1942 a Love Story

Enjoy the delicacy of soft love and romance this Valentine Day by revisiting the sweet memories of 1942 A Love Story. Mydearvalentine offers a romantic account of the movie 1942 A Love Story filmed against the background of the on going freedom struggle in India in the year 1942.This valentine day celebrate your love coupled with the romantic and evergreen movie of 1942 A Love Story.

This story is not only about the ongoing Indian freedom struggle in the year 1942 but also about a love story that was blossoming amidst all this. Naren, the son of a wealthy local politician who was loyal to the British crown, falls in love with Rajjo, the daughter of an Indian freedom fighter.

They get caught up in the increasingly violent revolutionary scene when Rajjo's father and her uncle conspire to assassinate a sadistic, visiting British general who was determined to keep India under stricter British rule. This was a time when most people in India were either working for the British or rallying for underground meetings and conspiracies against them. In the meantime romance blossoms between Narendra Singh (Anil Kapoor) and Rajeshwari Pathak (Manisha Koirala) amidst the terror filled scenario of conspiracies and freedom struggle and so love does not seem to be an easy issue in their life.

The biggest obstacles being not only the difference in their status but also the fact that Naren's father is a pro- British landlord awaiting a royal title, whereas Rajjo's father is an anti British freedom fighter. Thus there's no way that their love could flourish under such circumstances. In fact there was a high possibility of Naren turning into a revolutionary for his love for Rajjo and be pitted against his own father. As things escalate from bad to worse, the two are faced with a difficult situation in their struggle to stay together despite the clash in their family values. The striking star-constellated cast also features Anupam Kher and the terrific Jackie Shroff as the dashing freedom-fighter Shubhankar who is also in love with Rajjo.

This historical epic which is expertly written, acted and directed scored graciously at both the Filmfare and Screen Awards on its release in 1994. This movie was produced and directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, written by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Kamna Chandra, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, and starring Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Manisha Koirala, Anupam Kher and Pran, etc. This grand masterpiece had won the Filmfare awards for Best Supporting Actor - Jackie Shroff, Best Lyricist - Javed Akhtar for Ek ladki ko dekha, Best Music Director - Rahul Dev Burman, Best Male Playback - Kumar Sanu for Ek ladki ko dekha, Best Female Playback - Kavita Krishnamurthy for Pyaar hua chupke se, Anupam Kher won the award for the Best Supporting Actor from Star Screen Awards.
